This picture is of Shiva at sunset in the Ganges, Rishikesh just before hours of chanting!

A very popular form of Bhakti Yoga is chanting or Kirtan. Kirtan often consists of one or more musicians singing devotional mantras in a call and response format. The participants usually sit on the floor, facing the musicians.

Aum In Bhakti Yoga, Om is considered the highest sound, the One sound that encompasses all other sounds in the Universe. Many mantras begin and end with chanting the sacred sound Om.

Here is a video of one of Gina Salá's kirtans in Seattle. She holds kirtan in a yoga studio once a month.

Gina's kirtan at Samadhi Yoga in Seattle on July 18 at 8pm was deep and profound. It was a celebration of Guru Purnima a high holy day of celebration that honours the Guru or Teacher.

Her next kirtan will be August 15 at Samadhi Yoga at 8pm. All are welcome!

Watch this space for more kirtan opportunities around the world!
